Netflix Error 1006 on iPhone & iPad – How To Fix

This is a pretty simple fix for the Netflix error 1006 which many Netflix users encounter on their iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Android devices when trying to stream a movie. The 1006 error is usually displayed as shown below.


There is a problem connecting to Netflix. Please try again later (1006)

What Exactly Causes The Netflix Error 1006?

The translation of this error in English is that your device was unable to connect to the Netflix servers because of a problem with your internet connection, a glitch with the app on your phone or a problem with your network settings.

Now I have written a procedure that covers all possible causes of this error and will most definitely fix your Netflix problem regardless of the cause.

How To Fix Netflix Error 1006

1. Hard Reset Your iPhone or iPad

To do this, press and hold the Power and Home buttons at the same time, keep holding until you see the Apple logo appear on your screen. wait for the phone to boot up completely.

2. Reset Network settings on your iPhone or iPad

  • Go into the Settings area of your Apple device by clicking on the Settings app on your home screen.
  • On the left side, choose General.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap on Reset.
  • From the list of options, choose Reset Network Settings.
  • Tap Reset.

3. Reinstall Netflix

To remove possibilities of the error originating from the app itself, delete the Netflix app on your phone or TV and then re-download and install the app again.
To delete Netflix on iPhone or iPad, follow these steps:

  •  From your homescreen, touch and hold the Netflix app until it wobbles.
  • Tap on the little X icon that appears on the top left corner of the Netflix icon, then choose Delete. The app  is now gone.
  • Now, go into the Apple App Store. Search for “Netflix” (created by Netflix inc).
  • Click on the Install button to begin installation, you may need to enter your iTunes password.
  • After the app has been reinstalled, you should try signing back in to Netflix to see if it works now.

Now try signing back into Netflix and you would be surprised to see that the error 1006 has been cleared. Please leave a comment to say thanks 🙂
If this did not work and you still see the error 1006, then try the two items below which I intentionally left out of the procedure above.

4. Reset All Settings

To reset all settings on your iPhone or iPad:

  • From your home sreen, tap on the Settings app to open the settings area.
  • Choose General.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap on Reset.
  • From the list of options, choose Reset All Settings.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Wait for your phone to reboot.

Switch To a Wi-Fi Network

  • From your iPhone or iPad home screen, open the Settings app.
  • Choose Wi-Fi.
  • Select your Wi-Fi connection. You may be asked to login with your Wi-Fi password.
  • Now try streaming from Netflix again, it should work this time.
