Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Untethered on iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G – Untethered Jailbreak
Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Untethered on iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G using Redsn0w.
We will be using Redsn0w for this guide because the loopholes used by the Evasi0n jailbreak tool have been patched in this new Apple iOS version. If you own an iPhone or iDevice running an older version of iOS 6, then you can get untethered jailbreak with Evasi0n by following the instructions in the guide: Jailbreak iOS 6.1.2, 6.1.1, 6.1, 6.0.2, 6.0.1, 6.0 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch using Evasi0n
Heads Up!
1. This iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak guide can be used on the following iDevices:
iPhone 5
iPhone 4
iPhone 4S
iPhone 3GS
iPod Touch 4G
Once again, remember that for previous versions of iOS 6, you can get untethered jailbreak for all iDevices from this guide: Jailbreak iOS 6.1.2, 6.x on iPhone Using Evasi0n
2. Like you may have heard, using Redsn0w on iOS 6.1.3 would give you a tethered jailbreak (at first), but with this guide, you can install an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone or iDevice without having to boot into tethered mode using a computer.
What You Will Need
1. Your iDevice which should be one of the iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 4G, and which should be running the iOS 6.1.3
2. The Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 software which you can download from the links below:
3. The iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware for your iDevice which you can download from: http://felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
It may be worth stating again that it is not advisable to upgrade to the iOS 6.1.3 since this untethered jailbreak is not available for all Apple devices and is not as stable as the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.2. If you are currently on the iOS 6.1.2, then you can get a really good stable untethered jailbreak using Evasi0n which works for all Apple iDevices. But if you have already upgraded to the iOS 6.1.3 and your iDevice is not supported by this untethered jailbreak, then you may settle for the available tethered jailbreak using Redsn0w.
Steps To Untethered Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 5, iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch using Redsn0w
Step 1: Download the Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 [see the download links above for Mac and Windows]
Step 2: Download the iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file to your computer, you will need this for the jailbreak. I repeat.. Download the iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware (not the iOS 6.1.3 IPSW)
Step 3: If you downloaded the Redsn0w as a .zip or .rar file, then unzip and extract the contents of the file to find the Redsnow executable program. If you are a Mac user, you can launch the program, then proceed to step 4. For windows users, right click on the Redsnow file, then go to Properties => Compatibility, then set the compatibility mode to Windows XP service pack 2, grant administrator priviledges then click ok. To launch the program, right click on it then select Run as administrator.
Step 4: Once Redsn0w is open, click oon Extras, then go to Select IPSW. This would bring up a window which would require you to navigate to, and select the iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file (not the iOS 6.1.3). After Redsnow successfully identifies your IPSW firmware, just click the back button to go back to the Redsnow hompage screen.
Step 5: On the redsnow main page, click on Jailbreak. It would display a process box which says “preparing jailbreak data… patching kernel”. Then it would show you a screen where you are required to select your jailbreak options. Ensure that only the Install Cydia option is checked, then click Next to proceed.
Step 6: On the next screen, redsnow would require you to put your iPhone in DFU mode (Device Firmware Upadate). You can enter DFU mode right away if you know how. If you dont, then simply follow the on-screen instuctions which redsnow displays.. or follow my instructions below if you wish:
– Press and hold both the Home and Power buttons on your iDevice for 10 seconds.
– Let go of only the Power button while still holding on to the Home buttonn for another 10 seconds.
Redsnow should now detect that your iPhone is in DFU mode and would automatically proceed immediately.
Step 7: After Redsnow proceeds, your iPhone should reboot and you will notice that Cydia is missing from your Home screen, this means that your iPhone is in Tethered mode.
Now, to go into the untethered mode, simply open up Redsnow again, then go to Extras => Select IPSW. Again, navigate to and select the iOS 6.0 firmware file you used earlier, but this time click on Just Boot.
Step 8: Once more, put your iPhone into DFU mode when required and allow Redsnow to restart your iDevice.. and that is all. Your iPhone or iPod Touch is now fully Untethered.
Finis.
