How To Fix iTunes Error 1600, 160x and iTunes Error 21 [iPhone – iPad – iPod Touch] During Custom Firmware Restore For Windows & Mac
Did you encounter an iTunes error 1600 or iPhone error 21 while restoring your iPhone with a custom IPSW created by sn0wbreeze or Pwnage Tool or any other jailbreak softwar? If your answer to that question is yes then you are on the right page.
The real problem here is that you tried to restore your iPhone while it was in the normal DFU mode. This is wrong (well it is, if you get an iTunes error 1600). You should put your iPhone into Pwned DFU mode before restoring with the custom firmware. Sounds strange? Just red on and the iPhoneMonk will show you how to put your iPhone into Pwned DFU mode using iREB in order to solve the iTunes error 1600.
Fix iTunes Error 1600 & 21 Using iREB for Windows
This section of the article is for Windows users. For Mac, scroll down the page to see the guide for fixing this error on a Mac computer.
Step 1: Download the latest version of iREB from http://ih8sn0w.com/idex.php/products/view/ireb.snow
Step 2: Turn off your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch and then connect it to your computer.
Step 3: Make sure iTunes is closed, then open up the iREB software you downloaded from Step 1.
Step 4: From the iREB window, click on the name of your device. There is a section each for iPhones, iPods, and iPads.
Step 5: Next, put your iPhone or iDevice into DFU mode. If you knoew how to do this, then move to Step 6. If not, follow the instructions below:
Entering DFU mode:
=> Press and hold both the Power button and the Home button for 10 seconds.
=> Let go of the Power button but hold on to the Home button for another 10 seconds or until iREB detects your iPhone is in DFU mode.
Step 6: Once the iREB software detects your iPhone is in DFU mode, it would start exploiting your device with LimeRa1n.
Step 7: When this is done, your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch would be in Pwned DFU mode then you can proceed to restore with the custom IPSW firmware using iTunes as normal.

Sadly, there is no iREB software for the Mac OS, but you can still fix the iTunes error 16010 or 21 from a MAc computer using the Redsn0w software version 0.9.7b6 as explained in this other post i wrote:
