How To Remove Free U2 Album From iTunes
Follow these steps to delete U2’s Songs of Innocence album off your iTunes music library.
A while ago, Apple gave away the U2 album ‘Songs of Innocence’ (SOI) for free to every iTunes account. That was unexpected, and a bit shocking as people were not given a choice as to whether they wanted the album or not.
Apparently, Apple had to pay U2 $100 million to give away their album free of charge to half a billion people. Probably has something to do with the iPod commercial they did about a decade ago.
In any case, Apple made available a tool for non-fans of U2 to remove the album from their iTunes account, with a bold warning that says once the album is removed, you’ll have to pay for it to get it back (although it will be free till October 15th, 2014).
Procedure To Remove The U2 Songs of Innocence Album
1. Visit https://itunes.com/soi-remove
2. Be sure to read the message on the SOI removal page, then click the Remove Album button.
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. You’ll get a confirmation that the album has been successfully removed from your account.
If you downloaded the songs yourself to your Mac computer or PC, then you will have to delete them manually if you no longer want them.
